DNP 33 million EVs by 2025

It’s clear by now that putting a million EVs on the road by 2015 is but a pipe dream, but a joint project by eight states aim to make a total of 3.3 million EV sales by 2025 a more viable goal. California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont have forged a partnership to adopt measures and build infrastructures to entice more people to buy the emission-free vehicles. Mainly, they’re pushing to make charging stations more accessible by, among other things, easing up on installation rules and requiring certain establishments to build chargers within their vicinities. They’re also looking into implementing other incentives like off-peak charging rates and reduced tolls. 3.3 million, however, is no joke — according to The New York Times, annual electric car sales is just around 45,000, so the group better have some serious tricks up its sleeves.
