Android 4.4 to hit Nexus 4, 7, 10, and Google Play edition devices in coming weeks

Share

Officially making its debut today, Android 4.4 KitKat will make its way to older devices in the next few weeks. Specifically, the Nexus 4, 7, 10, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play edition devices area already promised from Google. What’s not, however, is the 2011 flagship Google handset, the Galaxy Nexus.

Android 4.4, KitKat, which comes on Nexus 5, will also soon be available on Nexus 4, 7, 10, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks.

While this does sound crappy and unfortunate at first blush, we might hope for support in due time. Even by Google’s own admission, Android 4.4 KitKat is optimized to work on lesser-powered models.

…now Android can run comfortably on the 512MB of RAM devices that are popular in much of the world, bringing the latest goodies in Android 4.4 within reach for the next billion smartphone users.

So what’s it going to be, Google? Are you going to work on an official 4.4 build for the Galaxy Nexus or do we need to flash something of our own?
