Looks like T-Mobile and CEO John Legere got into a little bit of trouble over Tmo’s new ad campaign against AT&T. We all know that once the whole AT&T and T-Mobile debacle ended, T-Mobile was holding their chins high, and John Legere made it his duty to criticize AT&T with any chance he got. Guess they went a little too far.
According to the National Advertising Division (NAD), Tmo claimed they have 50% more bandwidth than AT&T, so NAD took it upon themselves to investigate this claim. Turns out, Tmo was a little misleading. NAD investigated the HSPA networks and AT&T’s network to find the claim a little funny. Turns out Tmo did not include AT&T’s LTE network, therefore has been deemed flawed, and does not prove that AT&T’s network is more congested when combining HSPA and LTE.
After this investigation, NAD has asked Tmo to stop declaring certain aspects of their network in their ad campaigns. NAD told Tmo to stop using the claims, “faster 4G service,” and “most advanced technology.” They were also asked to change or stop their call quality claim, where Tmo uses the fancy term “overly broad.” Tmo’s heads were in the right place, but it was only a matter of time before someone was going to look into all those fancy terms they were tossing around.
