Screens by Edovia is my favorite VNC client for iOS and Mac, because the developers and designers care about what I care about – a great, focused user experience. And now they’ve brought that sensibility – and their kickass VNC apps – to iOS 7 with Screens 3.
It looks like you’d expect it to look. Clear. Deferential. With just the right touch of translucent depth. If you’ve used Screens before, everything is just where you left it. If you haven’t, everything is just where you’d expect it to be. In addition to the new design, it’s got better keyboard support for Screens Connect users, as well as enhanced gesture support.
I’ve been using it for a few weeks, since the beta, and it’s performed spectacularly. It’s so fast on the iPhone 5 and iPad mini, I can’t imagine how it will feel on the iPhone 5s. But I want to try. Like now.
Screens 3 is a new app, which means if you previously bought Screens 2, you can keep using it, but you won’t get the new design or features now or in the future. I bought it without hesitation because, frankly, it’s less expensive than the a family dinner at KFC, I use it every day, and I want to support the developer so I’ll get Screens 4. I expect my boss to pay me when I work, so I’m happy to pay developers and designers when they work.
Having watched screens go from stately wood in version one to elegant gray in version two to futuristic layers in version three, yet stay true to its purpose and experience has been amazing.
Congrats to Edovia, thanks for the hard work, and if you’re looking for a great iOS 7-style, Apple-style VNC client for your iPhone and iPad, go get it now.
