Sony Xperia Z was considered as a big hit for Sony and it was well received by the critics and the users. I personally liked it as well, and it is strong enough to go head to head with devices like HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4. Though, we learned a few months ago that Sony is already working on the successor of the Xperia Z, which is codenamed as the “Honami” a.k.a Sony Xperia i1. A report was published on a Korean site EconomicDaily that CEO of Sony Korea, Kenji Sakai said that the successor to the Sony Xperia Z will be released by the end of this year.
Mr.Sakai was only talking about Korea here, but it gives us an idea that we will see the Xperia i1 in the market by the end of 2013. It is rumored that it will come with a 20-megapixel camera, a smartphone made to challenge devices like the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. Sony’s camera history is really good, for example the Xperia X10 was one of the first devices to feature an 8-megapixel camera.
However, we might see the announcement of it at the IFA during September in Berlin, Germany as Sony is planning to hold a press conference on September 4th. Fingers crossed.
