Reemote is now Airfoil Remote: total control of Mac audio from your iOS device

Reemote is now Airfoil Remote: total control of Mac audio from your iOS device

Rogue Amoeba on Tuesday released Airfoil Remote, a companion application for iOS devices operating on the same networks as Macs that use Rogue Amoeba’s Airfoil for Mac software. It’s a rebadged and relaunched version of Kai Aras’ Reemote application, which Rogue Amoeba has acquired.

Airfoil for Mac lets you send any audio from your Mac out to compatible devices. An AirPort Express or Apple TV only work with iTunes, for example. Using Airfoil for Mac, you can send audio from any application to your Apple TV. Or any device that supports Apple’s AirPlay technology.

Airfoil Remote enables you to use any iOS device to control sound from Airfoil on the Mc. You can turn speakers on and off, adjust volume and change the source application. Airfoil Remote offers the ability to control a dozen different audio sources as well, like Spotify, Rdio and others. The app shows you title and artist information and album artwork.

If you already use Reemote, Airfoil Remote is a free update. What’s more, you don’t have to use Reemote Server anymore – it’s all built in to Airfoil. Airfoil Remote requires Airfoil for Mac version 4.8 or later.
