Apple Developer Portal still down, still no end in sight

Apple’s Developer Portal has been down for a while now, and if the latest notice posted on the site is any indication, it might just be down for a while still. Here’s Apple’s latest update:

We’ll be back soon

We apologize that maintenance is taking longer than expected. If your program membership was set to expire during this period, it has been extended and your app will remain on the App Store. If you have any other concerns about your account, please contact us.

Thank you for your patience.

The good news is, iTunes Store, Apple Online Store, Apple ID, and iTunes Connect aren’t affected, so you can still buy electronic and real goods, log into iCloud and all associated services, and manage existing apps. What you can’t do is anything that requires login to dev.apple.com, including get to beta builds, manage your developer account, and manage associated profiles and certificates.

Which, for developers, must be beyond frustrating. It must be beyond frustrating for Apple as well, especially with speculation about the ongoing downtime running rampant.

Apple will have to address what happened and why eventually. For now, best wishes and thanks to everyone in the trenches working hard to get the dev center back up.

If you’re having problems related to Apple Developer Center downtime, let us know!
