Huawei announced a new Android handset today, the Ascend P6, which happens to own the rights (for now) to the title of “world’s thinnest smartphone”. How thing are we talking? Oh, a svelte 6.18mm thick. You know, about half the thickness of devices just a year or so back.
Powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the phone features a 4.7-inch display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera (BSI camera with f/2.0 aperture), and 5-megapixel (yes, 5) front-facing camera. Additional details include a 2000mAh battery and the standard fare of connectivity.
Available in black, white and pink (with matching color cases), the Ascend P6 will begin shipping to China this month and then to Western Europe in July. No indications as of yet whether the United States will see a variant.
