BlackBerry App World has had its name changed and is now simply called BlackBerry World. RIM says that the name change was made to reflect a shift in the sort of items available for purchase from the store as the company moves to BlackBerry 10 and beyond. BlackBerry World will offer more than apps with videos and music available there as well.

RIM says BlackBerry World will be a one-stop shop for all the entertainment needs of BlackBerry users. BlackBerry World has several ways to browse, download, purchase, and manage content. Content can be purchased and managed using BlackBerry smartphones, the BlackBerry playbook tablet, or via computers.

RIM is also making it easy to share content you like from BlackBerry World. Your favorite content can be shared with friends via BBM, Facebook, and Twitter. Users will also be able to tap their smartphones together to invite friends to download a specific app. If you log on don’t see the new name library World, RIM notes that it could take up to 24 hours for the changes to appear.
