Smartphone firm OPPO has outed its latest handset, the OPPO Find 5, and it’s shaping up to be a doozy: 5-inch 1080p display like the DROID DNA, 13-megapixel camera, and a slick stainless steel casing. The Find 5 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz quadcore APQ8064 processor, with a healthy 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage; it doesn’t get LTE, but it does support up to 42Mbps HSPA+ with its quadband 3G modem.
Elsewhere, there’s WiFi a/b/g/n (2.4/5GHz) along with WiFi Direct support, together with Bluetooth and NFC. All of the usual sensors – GPS, gyroscope, digital compass, light, proximity, etc. – are present, and the battery is a 2,500 mAh pack.
OPPO hasn’t stinted on cameras, and the Find 5 has a massive 13-megapixel main shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. It can shoot HDR photos and video in up to 120fps for slow-motion playback. Alternatively, there’s a burst-shoot mode which can fire off a faintly ridiculous 100 shots every five seconds. Dolby 3D sound and Dirac HD are both supported for playback.
The Find 5′s key charm, however, may well be its display. Promising 441ppi pixel density, the 1080p-resolution IPS panel uses “one glass solution” (OGS) optical lamination to bond the touch layer to the display, reducing thickness and producing what OPPO says is a better picture. It’s all wrapped up in a slimline chassis with a 3.25mm screen bezel.
According to Engadget the Find 5 will be priced at $499 in the US when it goes on sale in early 2013.
