Escort Mobile TV brings live TV to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

Escort is a company that most people probably recognize as the manufacturer of some of the more common radar detectors on the market to help people avoid tickets. The company also has some other product for navigation and mobile TV. The new product has now debuted from Escort called the Escort Mobile TV.

The hardware accessory is designed specifically to work with Apple gadgets including the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. It plugs into the 30-pin connector on these devices meaning it won’t work with the new iPhone 5 or other gadgets with the smaller Lighting connector natively. The accessory will work using the Apple 30-pin to Lightning adapter according to Escort.

The device is a miniature digital TV receiver with built-in rechargeable battery. Since it picks up over the air broadcast TV content, no charges are made to your mobile data plan. The device also works without the need for any mobile networks or Wi-Fi networks.

The Escort MobileTV works in conjunction with a free app available on the App Store called iDTV USA. This accessory is available right now for $99.95. That price includes the receiver, antenna, and the USB charging cable. One caveat that needs to be kept in mind is that the device picks up content from the Dyle mobile TV network with no substantial fee for all of 2013. You will need to be in an area that has Dyle Mobile TV coverage to be able to view content.
