Oregon Scientific today introduced a new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet designed specifically with kids in mind. Called the MEEP! Tablet, it’s a 7-inch Wi-Fi device with a rugged layer of orange silicon protection, a recessed display, and other features to help keep the tablet safe. Priced at $150, the tablet comes with a 1GHZ processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, HDMI output, and a front-facing webcam.
Parents will appreciate the cloud-based settings that allow for them to change things remotely without needing to grab the physical tablet. Another feature that moms and dads will dig is the ability to whitelist apps and websites as well as blacklisting stuff they don’t want them to have. The MEEP! comes with a number of pre-loaded games, including Angry Birds, UNO, Toon Goggles, and some educational titles. Rounding things out, parents can monitor their child’s online activity, limit play time duration and set up a virtual allowance system for purchasing additional apps via MEEP! coins.
The MEEP! also provides for a full suite of accessories including a portable piano, drum pad, headphones and microphone, a joystick, steering wheel or dualplay Game-Pro Case. And just in case you don’t dig the orange, you can also get silicon bumpers in Meepadelic Purple and Meepto Pink.

Oregon Scientific also maintains a “blacklist” of inappropriate content that is updated by moderators on an ongoing basis which parents can add to. In addition, parents can actively monitor their child’s online activity, limit play time duration and provide a virtual allowance for purchasing apps via MEEP! coins without needing to access the physical tablet.
From the hottest pre-loaded content including Angry Birds, UNO, Toon Goggles, art and learning apps and more to the MEEP!
