Nexus 7 claimed to be best-selling Android tablet ever

The Nexus 7 is certainly a one-of-a-kind Android tablet, and it definitely lives up to the Nexus name, so it may not be too much surprise that the tablet is selling really well. The Carphone Warehouse, Europe’s largest independent mobile retailer, has reported that Google‘s Nexus 7 tablet has been the highest-selling Android tablet in the retailer’s history.

The Nexus 7 has eclipsed other Android tablets like the ASUS Transformer series and Samsung‘s Galaxy Tab, as well as the budget-friendly tablets like the Kindle Fire HD and the NOOK Tablet from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, respectively. But even the Nexus 7′s own budget-friendly price tag has been enough to out-do other tablets of its kind.

However, the Nexus 7 still trots behind Apple’s iPad, but 7-inch Android tablets of all sorts have seen rising demand. Carphone Warehouse has been receiving a rising number of orders for the smaller Android tablets running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which means that more and more people are starting to getting into the smaller-form tablets.

Graham Stapleton, Chief Commercial Officer at Carphone Warehouse, says that he’s “seeing a real shift in what customers are using their tablets for, with more and more watching content on the go. It’s now common to see people using their tablets during the morning commute or catching up on the day’s news in a local coffee shop, and smaller devices make it easier to handle.”
