Netflix original series House of Cards launches as exclusive on February 1

Netflix has announced the launch date for its latest original series called House of Cards. The series is a Netflix exclusive and is the streaming networks latest original program. The series will debut as a Netflix streaming exclusive on February 1, 2013. The entire 13 episode first season of the program will be available anywhere Netflix is available.

That means that fans who subscribe to Netflix in North America, the UK, Ireland, Latin America, and Scandinavia will all be able to watch all 13-episodes of the new dramatic series in one sitting if they want. The series stars Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, and Kate Mara.

The series is directed by David Fincher and is written by Beau Willimont and Eric Roth. House of Cards is based on the BBC miniseries that aired under the same name. The show is described as a wicked political drama highlighting greed, love, and corruption in modern-day Washington DC.

In the series, Spacey will play Francis Underwood, the House Majority Whip. Wright will play his wife Claire. The first two episodes of the series were directed by David Fincher with other directors stepping in for episodes down the line. Other guest directors include Joel Schumacher, Alan Coulter, and several others.
