Android-based Nikon S800C now shipping

Just a quick note to pass along the news that the Android-powered Nikon digital camera is now shipping.  Priced at about $350, the S800C runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features a 10x optical zoom lens, 16-megapixel sensor, 4GB internal memory, GPS and a 3.5-inch WVGA AMOLED display.

Enjoy high quality images that you simply cannot get with smartphones, plus wireless communication that is impossible with regular digital still cameras. Equipped with the powerful combination of Android OS and Wi-Fi, it’s possible to quickly and easily upload images to a social network service or website from this camera. Even if you’re not near a Wi-Fi hot spot, you can wirelessly transfer images from your camera to smartphones and tablets.
