T-Mobile Set To Release Android 2.2 Froyo Update For MyTouch 3G

Share

T-Mobile has announced that HTC MyTouch 3G owners are set to receive a major operating system upgrade to Android 2.2 Froyo.

The software upgrade, which is mandatory for MyTouch 3G users on T-Mobile, will bring better security features, a newer home screen and support for Exchange e-mail.

According to Information Week, customers will get reminded to install the update every half hour until they actually do it, and will require them to have a fully charged phone before they begin the installation process. The over-the-air update will be available in two parts.

The new Exchange feature will bring enhanced security options to the smartphone, allowing users to set numeric pin and alpha numeric passwords. Meanwhile, Exchange administrators will be able to exercise new phone data security options, by being able to remotely set the phone to its factory settings, thereby erasing data, if the device gets stolen or misplaced.

The Faves Gallery will allow users to see texts, e-mails, calls, instant messaging, and social networking updates from 20 people in their contact list.
