Geeksphone Revolution comes with Android and Firefox OS

Share

Internet users around the world are familiar with the name of Mozilla Firefox, but not all of them know that Mozilla has an OS for mobile – Firefox OS. Like Android it’s based on Linux and seeks to disrupt the industry.

A company known as Geeksphone has introduced a smartphone, the first of its kind called the Revolution. What’s so revolutionary, you ask? This one is a dual-boot device that switches between Firefox OS and our beloved Android. Available in Europe starting February 20, it will retail for €289 ($304).

phone-revIt’s not a cutting edge smartphone like the HTC One or Samsung S4 but Geeksphone promises that it will still deliver. As for the specs, it’s running a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 4.7-inch qHD display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. Rounding things out are an 8-megapixel camera with 1.3MP front-facing camera, 4GB of on-board storage with a microSD card slot (up to 32GB), and 2000 mAh battery.

What’s your take on this one? If it comes to US, will you grab one? Tell us about it in the comment box below.
