Jelly Bean nears 50% saturation of Android devices

Share

Roughly a year and a half after making its debut, the Jelly Bean version of Android is nearing the fifty percent mark. New figures showing on the developer blog put the platform at 48.6 percent of all devices. Android 2.3 Gingerbread still accounts for 28.5 percent of the pie and holds strong at number two. As for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s still powering one in five devices at 20.6 percent. Interestingly enough, there is still a small contingent of users (2.2 percent) who run Android 2.2 Froyo.

Things will get interesting pretty soon with the introduction of Android 4.4 KitKat. Given that Google plans to “make an amazing Android experience available for everybody” we should look for that version to roll out quick and steady.
