The Google Nexus 7 now has the ability to support USB drives, thanks to a new app available now from the Google Play store.

The lack of innovation that meant consumers were unable to transfer files from flash storage drives and SD cards had proved a deterrent to some potential customers.?

However, The Nexus Media Importer app from Homeysoft now makes it possible to transfer photos and other files from a card reader or even stream movies to the 7-inch Android tablet device via a USB On-The-Go cable.

The Nexus Media Importer app, once downloaded to the Nexus 7, enables users to select individual files from a flash storage drive or SD card and then copy them on to the tablet via a USB cable. To stream video the drive will need to be continuously connected to the Nexus 7.?

The Nexus Media Importer app is available to download now from the Google Play store for ?1.27 and will also work with other Android 3.2 (and above) devices as well as the Nexus 7.
